Meet Dr. Vitaly Terushkin in New Jersey


Dr. Vitaly Terushkin attended Brandeis University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a neuroscience degree. He then attended New York University (NYU) School of Medicine and conducted clinical research in cutaneous oncology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for a year. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and given the Marion B. Sulzberger Award for Excellence in Dermatology at graduation.

Dr. Terushkin completed his internal medicine internship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center and his dermatology training at NYU. After completing his residency—serving as a chief resident for his final year—Dr. Terushkin completed Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology fellowship, working under Dr. John Zitelli and Dr. David Brodland. After this, he went back to NYU once again and completed a dermatopathology fellowship. This training puts him among a select group dermatologists in the United States: those who are fellowship-trained in Mohs surgery and dermatopathology.

He now practices Mohs surgery in New York and New Jersey and is a clinical instructor in dermatology at Weill Cornell Medical College. His focuses include Mohs surgery for skin cancer and post-skin-cancer-removal reconstruction.

Dr. Terushkin has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. His memberships include the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American College of Mohs Surgery, and American Society of Dermatopathology. He speaks Russian fluently and Spanish conversationally.
