Certified by the American Board of Dermatology as a Board-Certified Dermatologist, Dr. Kimberly Ruhl, MD, FAAD is licensed to practice medicine in New Jersey, where she makes her home. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners.

An army brat, Dr. Ruhl grew up in Wilmington, Delaware with childhood years spent in Germany, which she loved.

Dr. Ruhl began her distinguished academic career by completing her undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, graduating magna cum laude with high honors in biochemistry. At Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she earned her MD degree and PhD from the Department of Biochemistry at the same time and gained membership with the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Ruhl completed her internship in internal medicine at Yale University in 1995 and her residency training in dermatology at New York Hospital- Cornell University Medical College in 1998 where she served as a chief resident during her final year of training. She named her daughter, Payson, for the dorm she and her husband lived in.

Dr. Ruhl moved with her husband and family to Montclair, New Jersey on April Fools Day 1999, and raised two children and three cats. Her daughter currently attends college; her son will be matriculating in the Fall.

Expertly trained to care for all aspects of skin health, Dr. Ruhl has practiced Dermatology for over 20 years with particular interests in skin cancer, acne, eczema, and warts. She treats patients of all ages from pediatric to geriatric; she especially enjoys treating multiple generations of a family. She joined Advanced Dermatology & Skin Care in 2004 to help create a dermatology office that embodied how she'd like to be treated as a patient: a professional environment dedicated to providing comprehensive patient-centered care in a compassionate and attentive manner.

An avid reader of mysteries and suspense novels, Dr. Ruhl especially likes a story with an unexpected twist! She and her family enjoy skiing and sailing, and are adventurous world travelers: while travelling in Morocco she got to sleep next to camels (and debated whether she preferred the camels to her husband) and on an eco-tourism trip in Panama had to have a car pulled out of a ditch on a road deep in the jungle.
